Pershing Rifles, Company H-7 Pictures

This is only a small part of what I am sure is out there somewhere in boxes in attics and basements.  Let's see how many pictures of H-7 we can collect.  The CAPER pictures are on a separate page, as are the Kaydette picture.

Fall 1968: Taking down the garrison flag after a home football game. (from Linda Grissette)

On the fence to keep the flag from getting into the barbed wire, Grubbie Brian Nacci, Grubbie Bob Abernathy

On the way back to the Armory: Grubbie John Young, Gene Bray (in the back ground with sun glasses), Grubbie Brian Nacci (also in sun glasses) and part of Grubbie Bob Abernathy (sun glasses) (reported as deceased)    It must have been a real sunny day...or they all wanted to be cool like Gene!
After they got the cart with the flag back to the Armory the really hard work began.  It took everyone, including CAPERS, to get the flag folded.  It took up most of the Army bay.  Not many people realize how large..and heavy a garrison flag really is!  In 1969, we played University of Nebraska at Norman and Nebraska sent a pep band.  One of the band members was Jim Condon from Pershing Rifles National Headquarters.  After the game he came back to the Armory to help, too.  Boy, did he help.  They had him be the person in the middle who gets the flag folded on their back.  But usually they didn't let go of it like they did with Jim.  They just had to "get" and National Staffer.  Not many Pershing Rifles Companies got to have casual visits from National Staffers, but thanks to CAPER National Headquarters, our guys did!
1967-71: Some newspaper clippings.  There are a couple of PRs in one of them, but we need their names! (from Linda)

Charles Brantley definitely enjoyed this important job of the Company Commander, naming the new Honorary at the White Rose Ball.

To the right, he is kissing the winner, Jancy Hodges.

To the lower left, he is escorting Jancy through the saber arch.  Those one the CAPER drill team in 1970 will enjoy this picture of the sabers that we used in our drill team
