The 2010 Pershing Rifles Reunion at the University of Oklahoma

On September 10, 36 Pershing Rifles and CAPER alumni, some of their family members, some of the ROTC cadre and staff, and several cadets (a total of 76 people) gathered in the Army bay of the Armory (the Army and Navy ROTC building) for lunch.  It was our first reunion ever and no matter when we were active, we were all instantly taken back to our college years.  The Armory is a historic building (built in 1919) and they can’t make any major changes on it.  Be sure to check out our virtual tour of the ArmoryAlthough most of the alumni present were from the 1960s and 1970’s, we had one of our charter members from 1948 and a father/son alumni group (father from the 1950’s and son from the 1980’s).  There were 3 CAPER National Commanders and 6 Pershing Rifles Company H-7 Commanders in attendance.

We had been told that several years ago a cadre member threw away everything old in the Armory.  When the committee went into the Armory the day before, the ROTC Executive Officer MAJ David Jenson.  The next day we had to figure out where it was put for safe keeping.  When he found it, MAJ Jenson found a good place to show it off.

Then the sign went out to the registration table.
